Thanks to the generous commitment of VisionAmerica, we have been able to source four shuttles to serve those in need throughout Northwest Alabama. These shuttles are a vital part of our mission, helping Veterans access essential services and medical appointments at the VA Medical Center Tuscaloosa

With our shuttles now acquired, we are committed to keeping them in top working condition to ensure the safety of those we serve. Regular maintenance, safety inspections, and vehicle upkeep are our priorities as we prepare to launch our transportation services.

We are actively recruiting and training volunteer drivers to provide safe and reliable transportation for those in need. To ensure the highest quality of service and safety, all drivers will undergo:
• Driver’s license verification
• Criminal background check
• Motor vehicle history review
• CPR and basic first aid training
• Northwest Alabama Outreach (NAO) procedures training

To ensure our services reach the people who need them most, we are actively promoting Northwest Alabama Outreach through:

Northwest Alabama Outreach is launching free shuttle rides for veterans in Marion and Fayette counties to the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Soon, we will expand this service to include Pickens and Lamar counties.
How It Works:
• Rides are available for veterans needing transportation to VA medical appointments.
• Pick-up locations and schedules will be provided in advance.
• Volunteer drivers ensure a safe and comfortable trip.

Northwest Alabama Outreach is committed to growing our services to better serve our community. In addition to offering shuttle rides to the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, we are:
• Expanding to other rural counties in Northwest Alabama to ensure more veterans have access to transportation.
• Adding shuttles to the Birmingham VA Health Care System to provide additional options for veterans in need of care.
• Equipping certain shuttles with wheelchair lifts, ensuring accessibility for all veterans.
